(CNN) -- Michigan's GOP-dominated statehouse voted Thursday in lame-duck session in favor of right-to-work laws that critics say would limit workers' rights and weaken unions. The legislative machinery sprang into action shortly after 11 a.m., when the state's Republican governor, Rick Snyder, announced the plan to reporters. Thousands of people descended on Michigan's Capitol in Lansing in protest, but were locked out of the Capitol. The lockout was imposed because the capacity of the building had been exceeded, Michigan State Police Inspector Gene Adamczyk said. Early in the evening, the House passed a bill affecting public workers by a vote of 58-52. House Democrats were united in their opposition; a handful of Republicans crossed party lines to join them, said Bob McCann, communications director for the Michigan State Democrats. Then the Senate passed two bills, one affecting private workers and the other public workers. The Republicans control both chambers.

Key:

  • Aggregate Sentiment is meant to be an indicator of an individual's overall sentiment.
  • The Mean is meant to be an indicator of an individual's average comment sentiment.
  • The Standard Deviation, when there are enough quotes, will indicate an individual's consistency of sentiment (i.e. a Standard Deviation of 0 would mean they were very consistent in their sentiment and 1 would mean they were very inconsistent).

Note that quote stats are likely to be meaningless beyond the aggregate score due to the tiny sample size. However, they are always provided just in case you find something useful there.
